Scrambled Jake’s Breakfast Company
It all started in 2015 when Kirby Smith of KBS, Inc. and his cousins, Jake and Taylor Ogle of Five Oaks Development Group, saw the need for a local, authentic breakfast and brunch eatery in the Knoxville community. They explored the building at 7428 S. Northshore Drive, which is a property that’s been in the Lonas family for generations. The original structure was built as a Hardee’s around 1994. Over the years, the building has undergone a few expansions and re-designs as a barbeque restaurant followed by a bar and nightclub. Despite some challenges that previous tenants faced, the trio loved the Rocky Hill community and believed this location set the stage for a convenient, neighborhood-driven breakfast and brunch dining experience.
Their vision for the restaurant was to create an atmosphere that reflected their interpretation of Knoxville, an urban city surrounded by the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee through its design, décor and food. After numerous months of planning, permitting and massive renovations, Scrambled Jake’s Breakfast Company was born in the summer of 2017.
Signature Breakfast & Brunch Dishes
Executive Chef Aaron leads the Scrambled Jake’s culinary team. Serving signature breakfast and brunch dishes, as well as lunch items in a relaxed, casual dining atmosphere. The restaurant’s menu features a variety of egg and omelet plates, “Benny’s” (Eggs Benedict options), and Jake’s Scramblers that use farm fresh, cage-free eggs from Sevierville, TN.
The culinary team arrives before sunrise to create handmade “Sin-O-Man” rolls and biscuits, house-baked bread for French toast and side dishes, and to hand chop the fresh fruit salsa and breakfast potato casserole. Sausage gravy, creamy grits, and deep-fried deviled eggs abound. If you are looking for a lighter option, the Pineapple Express or the freshly squeezed juice bar is a local favorite. The featured section of the menu includes a Quinoa Breakfast Bowl, Naan Breakfast Pizza, Beet Salad, Pasta Carbonara, and Grilled Salmon. If you have an extra hearty appetite, try your hand at the Bowman James.
The restaurant offers breakfast/brunch cocktails, a Bloody Mary bar on Saturdays and Sundays, French pressed coffee with house-made creamers and freshly squeezed orange juice from a machine that presses whole oranges in view of the customer. There are also vegetarian and gluten-free menu options available.
